Lately when I am reviewing a client's bioresonance scan, I have to dive deep into the electromagnetic field (EMF) topic. Shockingly, most people don't even know what it is- despite it being all around us. The thing is, it's something that we should care about. Whether it be for our children's health or even our own health- this is a topic that people need to be informed on.

This post will focus on explaining what EMF is, how it can be harmful for our health, and ways we can limit our exposure to EMF.

So, WTF is EMF?

EMF=electromagnetic field. Sounds fancy, huh? Well, it kind of is. It's definitely scientific and a bunch of stuff I don't necessarily understand, but I attempt to below. Give me a break- I was a psychology major. The highest science I took was geology- the study of rocks, for crying out loud.

What is it?

It's basically a mixture of electric and magnetic frequencies that are invisible to the human eye. The Earth naturally has a magnetic field- that's why grounding is so beneficial. But we, as humans, interact with the natural magnetism that the earth creates when we use things like electricity. We create these frequencies by making these interferences.

Electromagnetic field comes from:

  • Radio waves

  • LED lights

  • 5G

  • Anything with bluetooth

  • WiFi

  • Microwaves

  • Computers

  • MRIs

And a whole lot more, but you get the gist. The main point is: you carry it around with you everyday with your 5G cell phone. Every building that you walk in, hell even a plane flying in the air, has WiFi now. We are inundated with EMF.

Where is it?

Literally all around. When you're in the car, does your phone automatically hook up to bluetooth to play your favorite song or podcast? There's EMF. When you sit in your house or are at work and using the WiFi- there's the EMF. Standing in front of the microwave as you wait anxiously for your HotPocket to cook? Yeah, EMF. (Side note: remember when they advised pregnant women to not stand in front of a microwave while it's in use? Now ya know why.) Wearing your smart watch or headphones that are all connected to bluetooth? Big ole' dose of EMF. I wasn't kidding when I said our life is inundated with it. It even comes from our TV's. Holding an iPad and watching Youtube? Yep. EMF.

Why Does EMF Exposure Matter?

Some of the most commonly reported symptoms associated with EMF over exposure is anxiety, depression, headaches, nausea, fatigue and loss of libido (so, hormonal imbalance).

Obviously, none of us want to experience any of that. There's also another thing that EMF can do that really effects a lot of people and it has to do with mold. The truth of the matter is, at some point we are all exposed to mold. Whether it be in our houses, our work spaces, or just out in the wilderness. In a perfect world, we are exposed to it and our body detoxes from the mold exposure and we move on with our life- happy and healthy and thriving.

However, most of us now have so much toxicity in our lives (food, self care products, etc.) that we are unable to effectively detox from exposures of any kind- especially mold. Mold toxicity is extremely harmful to our health and comes with a TON of side effects, but that is a topic for a different day and time (I know you just breathed a sigh of fresh air, huh). Anywho, this matters with EMF because EMF can cause mold to replicate in our bodies 600x faster than it would replicate without the EMF influence. SIX. HUNDRED. TIMES. That's a shit ton of mold, my friend. Which leads to extreme difficulty of detoxing from it and therefore, extreme likelihood that you'll have symptoms from that mold exposure.

Are you freaking out? Pump the brakes, because I got you, girl!

How To Limit Your EMF Exposure

  1. Reduce Toxins

I wrote an entire blog post about how to live a healthier, less toxic lifestyle. I will be releasing a course soon that you can invest in if you are unsure where to start, but until I do- go read this blog post!

Basically, reducing your toxin exposure will help reduce the stress the body is under to detox. This will help you rid your body of mold and other pathogens better and therefore, be less effected by EMF.

2. Use EMF Blockers

I use an EMF blocker on my laptop, cell phone and I wear one. Seems excessive and honey, it ain't cheap- but I slowly accumulated these things. Do they work? I think so, but I mean, there's really no way to be certain. The websites of the blockers show the science behind it, so I am being optimistic ha ha

For Mother's Day last year I asked for this EMF protection bracelet to wear every day. I love it. It goes with everything and I got it in gold, so it's pretty cute with stacked bracelets or a nice watch, too!

You can get all of the protection for your devices from EMF Harmony. I use a lot of their products and really like them! [Click here to shop EMF protection!]

There are also EMF blockers for WiFi boxes and so on, but I don't use one at my house because our WiFi box is as far away from our bedrooms as possible. If your WiFi box is close to you or your child's bedroom, I'd consider getting one.

If your child plays on your phone or an iPad or really anything that connects to bluetooth or WiFi, I'd get an EMF blocker- whether it be the sticker or something more intense.

3. Limit Bluetooth Device Use

I use headphones with a cord on my iPhone! Call me lame, but here we are.

I do not use AirPods, other wireless headphones or wear a smart watch. Something about them sitting on my skin or being so close to my brain does not sit well with me. It's essentially radiation into our body with direct access. I use headphones that still have the cord for my phone and laptop- I am sure people see me and are like "what a loser" ha ha.

I used to love tracking my fitness with my Apple Watch but the risks outweigh the benefits, in my opinion. If I was going to wear it, I would only wear it while I exercise to track my heartrate and calories burned (but tbh I don't really care about burning calories or counting calories- you can read why here). Wearing it part time is definitely better than wearing it full time.

4. Turn Your Phone on Airplane Mode

Every night, before I go to bed, I turn my phone on airplane mode. This essentially shuts off all of the frequency our phone emits. I think this is especially important at night because I sleep with my phone on my end table. If you're worried about using your phone in an emergency, you can literally turn it off with a swift swipe and click. It takes 2 seconds. NOTE: When you turn your phone on Airplane mode, swipe down on your iPhone screen and make sure the bluetooth button is not still blue! If it is, you need to change it in your phone settings!

5. Unplug Your WiFi Router At Night

This may seem farfetched, and personally, I have not done this. Like I said, our WiFi router is on the complete opposite end of our house. So, it's not near our daughter's room or ours. But, if your WiFi router IS near your bedroom, I'd do this.

6. Download Stuff to Your Device

Another idea is to download your shows, episodes, podcasts, songs, etc. to your device and watch it after it downloads. Then, you don't have to be on WiFi or bluetooth to watch/listen to it. This is an especially good idea if your kid is on an iPad or your phone to watch shows. It also limits their accessibility to shows/commercials that they probably shouldn't be seeing anyways!

7. Heat Your Food in a Pan or Oven

There are alarming videos you can find now about what microwaving your food does to the food itself. It is extremely bad for us to ingest microwaved food. Do I do it? Yes, if I have to. AKA if I don't have access to an oven or a pan (so, eating away from home). I try to NEVER microwave Libby's food. We heat up a stainless steel pan (this is the set we bought- it's affordable) on the stove eye and warm the food that way. Does it take extra time? Damn straight. Is it worth it? Hell yeah.

8. Change Your Light Bulbs

If you have LED light bulbs (most homes/apartments/work environments use LED bulbs now), then you’re getting a hefty dose of EMF every day. You can limit your exposure by getting antiblue light bulbs. I use this night light at night and seriously love it! It’s dimmable and the hue of the bulb is so warm and relaxing! You can shop 15% off Block Blue Light bulbs here!

9. Ground Yourself

Like I mentioned above, we are all made of energy and EMF disrupts ours immensely. I have been using a grounding mat and a grounding sheet every day and we seriously LOVE this thing- especially the grounding sheet! My husband always had trouble falling asleep, but from the moment we got this sheet, he’s fallen asleep so easily! Not only that- we sleep deeper now, too! I wake up feeling so rested and I feel less inflamed when using it, too! [Click here to get your grounding sheet or grounding mat!]

Overall, I hope you can recognize how EMF is all around you and your child. I also hope you understand the health impacts it can have on us if we are not aware of the ramifications of over exposure. I kept all of this in mind when we were remodeling our house. I thought about where I placed our WiFi router. I opted to not have a WiFi controlled thermostat or lights. The point is: you have the power to avoid over exposure to EMF. You just need the guidance to do so, which now you have! *sexy eye wink*
